Main professional activities of the Department:

Teaching activities:

Primary School Teacher’s Training offers the training of future professionals who possess theoretically based knowledge, skills, and competences of pedagogy to complete teaching and education service concerning all compulsory subjects in the first four classes of the primary school.

Pre-School Teacher’s Training: offers the training of future professionals who possess theoretically based knowledge, skills, and competences of pedagogy to complete the tasks of pre-school education.

Infant and Early Childhood Education: offers the training of future professionals who can apply the proper methods of development and education when they look after and take care of 0–3-year-old infants and children; have competences in complex care, pedagogy, psychology to improve children’s mental, emotional, social and communication abilities.

Research activities:

  • transition to school

  • teacher education and teacher roles, teacher training, pre-, and in-service teachers' thinking, continuous professional development,

  • mental health and well-being at the early childhood

  • hospital education

  • methodology and research of children- and playing culture, childhood, education through arts in connection with mental health/health promotion

  • sexual development and education in early childhood – sex, gender, gender roles and stereotypes

  • family and institutional education

  • social competencies, social entrepreneurship

  • special educational needs

  • history of childhood and early childhood education

International Research and Development Projects

Additional activities:

  • active participation in the realization of different conferences and professional events; regular publication

  • organization of further training programs

  • active participation in the management of students’ research activities and academic progress
