A Freemover is a student who wishes to study abroad independent of any exchange program. Freemover students are welcome to apply to the ELTE University Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education (ELTE TÓK) to study independently 1 or 2 semesters long in the subject fields of primary and pre-school education. Freemover students have the same access to all the courses taught in English or German as our other incoming mobility students. Information about the courses offered can be found here.
You can become a freemover student,
if you have already finished your studies at your home institution (but have not yet awarded your degree – active legal relationship).
if your home institution does not have an agreement with ELTE TÓK.
if you didn’t get the chance to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility.
if you have at least one closed semester at your home institution (active legal relationship).
if you have at least B2 – intermediate level - state-accredited language certificate (except for English and German students who want to study in their native language).
As a freemover student
you are responsible for following the regulations of their own home universities with regards to study abroad and credit acceptance.
if you want to confirm your earned credits, you should meet with your academic advisor to discuss and agree to your study plan.
you are also expected to have appropriate health insurance during your studies.
all academic and administrative regulations apply to visiting students while they are studying at the Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education.
Tuition fees
Freemovers pay the tuition fee independently. To determine the cost of each course, first check the course and the number of ECTS credits in our course list and then refer to the fees:
Entrance fee: 30.000 HUF
Tuition fee: 20.000 HUF/per credit
Freemovers can determine the number of credits they would like to take on their own but we advise to take minimum 10 ECTS.
Fees must be paid after the Training Agreement was signed. Further details will be communicated by the coordinator of the faculty.
Application procedure
Please make sure to send the following documents to the incoming coordinator via email:
Signed application form
Certificate of Student status at the home university
Language certificate (at least B2 in English or German, depending on what language would you like to study in)
The deadline is 30 May for the autumn and 30 November for the spring semester.
After the application was accepted, a Letter of Acceptance will be issued to the student.
Agreement
An adult education agreement will be signed between the student and the university. This will record the student’s data, the chosen courses, payment details.
The agreement will be sent to the student via email after the Letter of Acceptance was issued.
Health insurance and liability
Health insurance
All students are responsible for arranging for appropriate health insurance during their studies at ELTE University Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education and their stay in Hungary. The University is not and shall not be in any way liable for any costs arising from a student’s illnesses, accidents, property damage/loss, etc.
Hungarian legal regulations require all students studying in Hungary to have a valid health insurance policy. In general, health insurance policies usually cover only emergency medical care (please read the small-print!). If a student has any chronic illnesses, the student must make additional arrangements as the usual short-term health insurance policy will not cover costs related to such illnesses. If a student has a long-term or chronic illness, he or she must arrange – prior to arrival – an appropriate private health insurance valid in Hungary.
Most EEA students can get the European Health Card which is also valid for use in Hungary. For details on what it covers and how any arising costs are to be paid, please check with your own Health Care authorities.
Liability insurance
Students will be legally and financially responsible for any accidents, injuries, or damages caused by them to someone else or someone else’s property, and hence shall be fully responsible for bearing any and all arising costs and duties. It is recommended that all students have a valid liability insurance during their stay in Hungary.
