The analysis of language attitudes has been an important topic in sociolinguistic research in German speaking countries. Knowledge, impressions and evaluation of speakers in connection with languages, language varieties and other speakers are in the focus of research. Language attitudes are multidimensional mental concepts which are influenced by e.g. cognitive and affective factors. Language attitudes of language learners can be analysed as well, as they have a key role in successful language learning according to current research findings.
