New Head of the Department of Physical Education

Effective October 1, 2026, Dr. Cintia Horváth, assistant professor, will serve as head of the Department of Physical Education at ELTE’s Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Teacher Education.

Dr. Cintia Horváth is a physical education teacher, adaptive physical education teacher, health promotion teacher, recreation organizer, and handball coach. She earned her PhD in 2022 in educational sciences, specializing in sports pedagogy.

Throughout her professional career, she has gained teaching experience in both public education and higher education. As a university instructor, she focuses on various theoretical and practical areas of physical education and sports, including health education, gymnastics, recreation, and the methodology of physical education instruction.

Her research interests focus on pedagogical and methodological issues in physical education, health education, health behavior and health literacy, as well as innovative teaching methods. In addition to her academic work, she actively participates in student talent development and TDK activities; as a thesis advisor, her mentees have won numerous TDK awards and special prizes, as well as second place in the OTDK.

In her teaching and leadership roles, she places particular emphasis on practice-oriented teacher training, student-centered instruction, and the development of a modern methodological culture. Her goal is to strengthen the professional community of the faculty and the department, to support collaborations and innovative initiatives, and to forge closer links between teaching, talent development, and research.
