teacher education, training and professional development (TEFL, TEYL and CLIL contexts)

My ongoing research, which began in 2007, initially focused on the professional development (CPD) opportunities, competences, challenges, and beliefs of practising teachers involved in bilingual (CLIL) education. Since 2010, however, the focus has shifted to the training, beliefs, learning outcomes (LeO), and competences of student teachers participating in ELTE TÓK's foreign language and bilingual preschool and primary teacher education programmes. This exploration of beliefs occurs at various stages of the students' training, beginning with an examination of their initial pedagogical views and continuing with the monitoring of competences throughout their studies, particularly following their CLIL internships. A particularly important aspect of the research is the investigation of beliefs and learning outcomes within the "Theory and Practice of Bilingualism" course. This investigation employs diverse educational activities and a wide range of qualitative research methods and techniques, such as metaphor analysis, visual representations, story creation, and creative-reflective portfolio defence.
