Folk Dance House to Celebrate Traditional Costume Day

This year, as a new initiative, within the Faculty Days programme we celebrated Traditional Costume Day, jointly organised by the Department of Hungarian Language and Literature and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. With this event, we wanted to highlight the beauty and diversity of traditional costumes, so we were especially delighted to see several of our students arrive dressed in folk costumes.

The live music for our Moldavian Csángó dance house was provided by András Benkő (koboz, vocals) and Attila Blank (flute, kaval). They not only played for the dances but also shared interesting background information about folk music, traditional instruments, and the dances themselves. Éva Trentinné Benkő translated these explanations into English for our international students. At the end of the event, thanks to the support of the Serbian Nationality Municipality, our guests were treated to delicious baklava, for which we owe special thanks to our colleague, Nikola Lásztity.

This event would not have been possible without the support of Ildikó Romanoczki and Judit Pálfalvi. The moments of the day were captured in photos by István Sebők, Valéria Árva, and Éva Trentinné Benkő. The programme was organised by Anna Bereczkiné Záluszki and Éva Trentinné Benkő.
