Louise Glück (1943-2023), American poet. The poet, whose paternal grandparents were Hungarian, taught creative writing at Yale and Stanford in the last phase of her life. She received the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature for her several volumes of poetry, the crowning achievement of her many previous prizes. The closure of her life’s work in 2023 is an opportunity for considering what Louise Glück has left behind. How could the results of the critical reception so far be summarized and a first evaluation of the finished work of a lifetime made?
