Partner visit in Dresden

Our Erasmus coordinator Ildikó Romanoczki visited our partner, the Evangelische Hochschule Dresden between 22-26 May 2023. Please read all about her experiences below.

I visited the university with whom we have an agreement for over ten years in acceptance of the invitation of their coordinator. The aim of my visit was to get to know the university and explore new possibilities for cooperation. During my visit I had the opportunity to meet with colleagues of the university and get to have a peek into their everyday duties. What was especially interesting is to meet with the representative of the Student Support Office who is responsible for recruiting, dealing with the university media, and the website. I learned a lot about their application process. What was especially interesting is that having at least six-months’ worth of volunteer’s experience in the field they would like to apply to. This way they can gain experience and insight into the vocation they are about to take on. They also must write a motivation letter to explain why they would like to study in the university.

I had the chance to meet with the representative of Studentenwerk, an organization that is responsible for student residence halls, catering, social and mental services, and events in Dresden. They are not part of the university but work in close collaboration with universities in the city. Their commitment to their work is exceptional. They expressed their interest in working together with our faculty in the future.

Furthermore, I had the opportunity to meet with colleagues at the Students Registration Office, at the Quality Management Office, with two colleagues responsible for early childhood education (Kindheitspädagogik) as well as colleague from Moritzburg Campus that home of their theological subjects. The highlight of my visit was the simulation laboratory of their course Nursing (Pflege) where students can practice on life-sized dolls to check their pulse, draw blood or how to lift someone immobile from bed to armchair.

The university does not have high numbers when it comes to incoming mobility, but all their courses are open to students (education is in German). They were very interested about the BIP, so hopefully we will get the chance to do something together in the field of early childhood education in the future.

In spring 2024 we will receive one of their students with Erasmus mobility.

I learned to know Dresden as a very friendly city filled with history, sights to see, and life. It is very easy to navigate both on foot and with public transport.
