Trip to the Hungarian National Gallery

In October, during the seminar of “Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies” given by Dr. Márton Hoványi we had the opportunity to visit the Hungarian National Gallery.

Throughout the tour, we were able to learn a lot about Hungarian art. The museum’s layout is organized by centuries and styles. On the ground floor they display masterpieces related to the 19th Century, on the first floor related to the 20th Century and on the upper floor from Contemporary times.

My favourite part of the exhibition was the one related to Hungarian Impressionism, more specifically Pal Szinyei’s works of art. “Poppies on the field” and “Picnic in May” caught my attention and deeply moved me.

In my opinion, interactive and dynamic seminars like this one encourage students’ motivation and engagement with the course. I hope we have more opportunities like this one.
