What does it feel like to be a Kindergarten Education BA student?

Hello, my name is Zibura Flóra and I have been studying in ELTE's Kindergarten Education BA program since 2021. I chose this program because I've always wanted to work with children, and I thought it would be very interesting would be to learn it in English. I've never regretted this decision, moreover, I love being a part of this program. Our group feels like a little family. We have people from other countries so we can learn a lot of new traditions. Now I know how different life is in South-Korea, not to mention the cuisine! I feel I can say I am lucky that I could get into this program because there is no other like it. The professors are highly educated and open to helping us with any problem. They organize programs in the faculty and outside university life. The practice is unique as well. In the preschool group, the teacher is really open and helpful. She always tries to involve us and experience how enjoyable but hard it can be. We have a chance to see different types of kindergartens (national, bilingual, Montessori) in our practice. In the whole group, we are friends, who help each other in hard times. We held a Christmas party anhad Secret Santa as well.

I am spending 2023 in Oviedo, Spain, where I am studying for 5 months on an Erasmus scholarship. I applied with my two friends and we luckily got it. The people here are absolutely calm, and always help us if needed, but you will need some Spanish knowledge to talk with them. Fortunately, we live in the 21st century so we have online translator if we need it. The practice is like a dream. The school is bilingual so the children learn Spanish half of the time and English half of the time. Some of the teachers came from England and Ireland. I feel like it is necessary to see other countries' kindergartens to learn new things. Here in Oviedo, the teaching methodology is quite different than home. They use projectors to teach something new: phonics, and math.

I am so thankful that I can be in this KIDE group and that I have international friends all around the world. I think this is the most important part of this education you create friendships for your whole life.
