Exam Components:
- To evaluate the applicant’s aural abilities, 2-3 classical or traditional (folk) songs are to be sung in the applicant’s native language, without notes and based on his or her own selection. Applicants must be capable of presenting the songs in different musical keys. Following this, 4-5 children’s songs are to be performed according to the same requirements, in the applicant’s native language and based on his or her selection.
- To evaluate the applicant’s musical memory, simple, short rhythms are to be repeated either by clapping or tapping; applicants are also to be able to sing a few simple melodies by ear, either by humming or using solfege/scale exercises.
- To evaluate the applicant’s sight-reading abilities, a few rhythms of the musical notation (in the five-line staff) for a few simple children’s songs are to be demonstrated.
